BarBar

Commercial

We were engaged by a team from the hospitality industry, referred through a friend of a friend, to help bring their vision for a new city bar to life. I first met the crew on site in a completely vacant shell. They had some inspo images and early design concepts, but the project quickly became a true design-and-construct process, working closely together to shape the final outcome.

One of the main challenges actually became one of the biggest wins. We discovered a void within the boundary fire-rated wall, which we were able to creatively incorporate into built-in storage and floating shelving. This became a standout feature of the bar, displaying their products and spirits while also making the confined space feel noticeably larger and more open.

The project involved a full internal fit-out, including the installation of a custom blockwork bar. This element required extremely precise planning, as we wanted to ensure full-sized blocks ran the entire length and width of the bar with no cuts. Every detail—every height, every step-out, every nook—had to be carefully set out to maximise patron floor space, maintain user-friendly function, and achieve a clean, high-end aesthetic.

We still love popping into Bar Bar for a drink whenever we're in the city.

One of the toughest parts of the job was simply working in the CBD. Being trades who rely on tool trailers and loads of gear, planning ahead each day was crucial—deciding exactly what needed to be brought in, what could be left behind, and how to minimise trips. Plenty of early starts were required to beat the city hustle and keep the project on track.
